WhenChristian Louboutintalks, I pay attention—both literallyandfiguratively. That's why the chance to quiz the man himself in relation to the brand's new bag launch was doubly important. The bag silhouette, named Passage after an entryway in the de facto Louboutin headquarters in Paris, is understated compared with some of the studded, feathered pieces we've been given before.
What exactly does Mr. Louboutin hope the Passage carries for women around the world? "A lover's number," he offered, adding that the only necessity a lady should feel the need to carry in her bag is a mirror (explaining, perhaps, why the Passage was designed with one). And what does the maestro of red soles use to tote his stuff? "I ride my Vespa in Paris, so I use a backpack." How very practical!
The bags, available in various sizes, launched first atBergdorfsand will be coming to Louboutin boutiques later this year. Let's examine it from every angle, shall we?
Seen from the front, it's neat and, best of all, practical-looking.
The flap can extend upward to allow some extra room.
A top-handle version is even more ladylike (and from this angle, you can see that sexy hint of red enamel under the silver handle).
Best news of all? When you peek inside, there's room for essentials!
