A lot of my fitness clients over the years, including contestants onThe Biggest Loser, had tried to lose weight or shape up so many times in the past before they finally made the change for good.Failures like that can be really hard to get over--you start to feel bad about yourself and expect that you're going to mess up.But I believe failure is an integral part of success.Find out why, take our poll and get a plan thatworks.
*If you don't fail at least once (and this could be in your work life,in love,in weight loss) then you're probably not aiming high enough! If you are really living and really reaching for what you want,it's going to happen. It's happened to me so many times I've lost count! But here's how to use those flops to help you succeed: *1.Show up.
Woody Allen,of all people, said that 80 percent of success was just showing up.And he's not wrong. In large part, success in weight loss is a matter of simple attrition, staying the course and not giving up.You can't succeed at theBody by Glamourplan, for example,if you don't keep actually, you know, doing the plan.Makes sense, right?
2.Own your past mistakes.
The key to overcoming failure is to use it as an opportunity for learning and growth.Instead of being defeated by a setback, look at it as a chance to evolve and become wiser.Let's say you gained back the 10 pounds you lost on your last diet, plus some. You can transform that "failure" into an opportunity, but you need to be willing to be honest with yourself. So,ask yourself why you gained the weight back.Did you buy into some quick-fix cleanse and deprive yourself to the point where your body drove you to binge your brains out?Did you hit some hard emotional times and start eating to deal with feelings rather than just to deal with hunger? Were you scared by getting slimmer and subconsciously ate your way back to the old, heavier status quo that feels comfortable?Focus on the art of owning our mistakes and, instead of dwelling on them and letting them chip away at our self-esteem,turn them into tools for learning, growth and positive change!
